Using Recall
Recall lives in your Mac's menu bar, follows the work on your screen and groups it into threads and projects. It brings you back to where you were after a break or an interruption, with its AI running on your Mac: you don't create anything, tag anything or start a timer.
This guide walks through every screen in the app. Each screenshot has numbered markers; the list under it explains each one. The screenshots show a fictional day: Jordan, a product designer who also writes code, working on four projects.

Words this guide uses
- Thread
- One stretch of focused work on one thing, such as a screen you were designing. Recall names it for you.
- Task
- Threads about the same piece of work, grouped together. Tasks are what Today and the project page list.
- Project
- Everything that belongs together: a repo, its documents, its chats. Recall finds projects from the work itself.
- Loop
- Something still open: a person waiting on you, a coding agent, a note you left, or unfinished work.
- Note
- One line you leave yourself with ⌥⌘B. Recall shows it first when you come back.
- Ask and promise
- Something a person asked you for in a chat, or something you said you would do.
