Recall improves in the open. Here's what landed recently, newest first. Updates arrive automatically; just keep the app running.

Recall 0.41.0August 2026

  • Your corrections stick, and Recall learns from them. Rename a thread, move it to the right project, rename or merge projects and topics: every correction is now permanent, and your words start showing up in how Recall names similar work.
  • Search your day. Today has a search box. Type a few letters and Recall finds threads by name, summary, or the note you left with ⌥⌘B.
  • Start: one click back into a project. Recall learns which apps you usually open together for each project and offers the combination as a one-click Start row in the menubar tray. Press ⌥⌘P for the full launcher. Nothing to set up.
  • Drift reminders are back, and smarter. Clear detours get a gentle reminder in about five minutes, work-looking rabbit holes get a longer leash, and the reminder still reaches you right after a thread closes. It learns from how you respond.
  • Design and creative work is recognized properly. Figma files, Photoshop projects, Miro boards and similar work show up as real projects once you return to them.
  • What's new, in the app. After each update, Recall shows you what changed. Reopen it anytime from Settings.
  • Quieter and steadier. Notifications from background apps no longer wake Recall or trigger the return panel. Occasional multi-second freezes are gone. The menubar tray no longer renders garbled, and thread names stopped picking up odd half-sentences.
  • Uninstall properly. Settings → Data removes everything cleanly, and reinstalling later runs setup again as it should.

Recall 0.40.0August 2026

  • Some things are none of Recall's business. Recall now recognizes adult and other clearly private content on screen and refuses to record it. Not "records it and hides it": nothing is analyzed, nothing is written down, no trace in your history. This release also sweeps your existing history once and removes anything the filter would have blocked.
  • Pause Recall with two clicks. The menubar tray now has a Pause button: 15 minutes, 1 hour, 3 hours, the rest of the day, or until you turn it back on. While paused the menubar icon changes, so there is never a question about whether Recall is watching. Pause indefinitely and Recall gently reminds you later that it is still off.
  • Two projects at once no longer confuse Recall. We rebuilt how Recall decides which thread each screen moment belongs to. Every moment is now assigned to exactly one thread the instant it happens, and titles and summaries are built only from moments that truly belong to that thread. When your activity is genuinely mixed, Recall says nothing instead of guessing wrong.
  • Smart Return, easier to read. One clear "where you left off" block up top, and an "Also waiting" list below with everything else on your plate. Clicking an item lets you look at it first: nothing opens until you press "Return to where you were".
  • A cleaner Loops tab. Loops opens with a quick summary of what is waiting on you, freshest first. Anything untouched for over a month is tucked away, and snoozed loops show when they will wake up.
  • Fixes. Long-lived AI chat tabs no longer stamp their title onto unrelated threads, coming back Monday shows your last active day instead of the empty weekend, and notes left with ⌥⌘B appear in Smart Return right away.

Recall 0.39.0August 2026

  • A completely new welcome. Setup is now a guided five-step tour with a live demo of a work thread being captured, interrupted, held, and brought back. Every word of the privacy explanation was rewritten to be literally true: what Recall reads, what it never stores, and what leaves your Mac only if you choose to share diagnostics. Setup even previews the occasional macOS screen-access re-confirmation prompt so it never surprises you, and the AI model download starts by itself while you read.
  • Breadcrumbs. Press ⌥⌘B anywhere and type one line about where you left off. It attaches to the thread you are on and is the first thing Smart Return shows when you come back. Recall can also offer the note automatically when you get pulled away, and asks once whether you want that.
  • Invite a friend. A few days in, Recall asks two small favors, once: share feedback, and invite someone who might need it. Type their email and we send one invitation with your personal link. We never email that address again.
  • Recall tells you it is learning. After setup the menu opens itself so you see where Recall lives, and a gentle pulse explains it needs a few hours of normal work before your day appears.
  • Fixes. Smart Return reliably opens Today when there is nothing to resume, plus many small window and layout fixes across the new screens.

Recall 0.38.0July 2026

  • We heard you: Recall is quieter now. The most consistent feedback since launch is that Recall interrupts too much. Most proactive panels are now off by default until we make them good enough to earn your attention. Smart Return and the drift reminder stay on, and all five nudges are yours to configure in Settings, under Nudges.
  • Windows open where you are. Recall windows now open on the Space you're on, right on top of what you're doing, the way a system dialog would. First click works, the window lands on the tab you asked for, and closing it hands focus back to the app you came from. A phantom hidden window that silently broke menubar navigation is gone for good.
  • Help us make Recall smarter, and get 3 months free. Recall is in early beta, and real-world diagnostics are what we use to improve project recognition and task understanding. Share diagnostics and your free trial runs 3 months instead of 7 days, for as long as sharing stays on. Optional, off by default, stored in the EU, deleted after 30 days. Already sharing? Thank you: the extended trial applies to you automatically.
  • Also in this release. Summon Smart Return anytime with the menubar button or Option-Command-R. Capture a task straight off your screen with Option-Command-T. Global shortcuts are now remappable in Settings. Drift reminders fire correctly when you slide into leisure inside a work session, and an occasional menubar popover rendering glitch is fixed.

Recall 0.37.0July 2026

  • Parallel work, tracked properly. Each workstream now gets its own thread instead of being mashed into one. The menubar shows what you're focused on plus an “Also live” list of everything else in flight, with time counted honestly per stream.
  • Project recognition, rebuilt. Recall derives your projects from the real shape of your work, so there are far fewer “Franken-projects” and junk cards. If it thinks two projects are the same, it suggests a merge and never fuses them behind your back. Rename a project and the name sticks.
  • Recognition beyond code. CRM records (Salesforce, HubSpot) and creative & office documents (Final Cut, Premiere, Photoshop, Logic, Word, Excel and more) now become real projects, grouped by the actual document or record instead of lumped together as “that app.”
  • When it isn't sure, it says so. Work that can't be confidently placed waits in an unassigned state, and a local background assistant files it into the right project only when several independent signals agree. Every automatic move is logged and reversible, and nothing leaves your Mac.
  • Finish tasks right from the panels. The Smart Return and “pick one” panels let you mark work done, small celebration included, and finished work is never suggested again. Smart Return no longer disappears on a timer; it waits for you.
  • Browse any day, not just today. The Today view can travel back in time: open any past day and see exactly what you worked on, frozen as that day ended.
  • Movies aren't work. Recall now tells doing from watching. Entertainment counts as a break, not a fake project, and you get a gentle nudge when you're drifting with real work open.
  • Extra devices & steadier under load. Add device slots right from your account, and in-flight work now survives app restarts and updates with its time and context intact.
