These terms explain what you can expect from Recall and what we expect from you. We have tried to keep them plain. If anything is unclear, write to us and we will explain it.
01Who we are
Recall (“Recall”, “we”, “us”, “our”) is a desktop application that helps you keep and recover the context of your work. Recall is currently operated by an independent individual developer (a sole trader) based in the Republic of Moldova.
We are in the process of forming a registered company. Once that entity is established, these terms will be updated to name it and to reflect its place of registration. The way the product works, and your rights as a customer, do not change because of that transition.
You can reach us at any time at hello@joinrecall.com.
02Agreeing to these terms
These Terms of Service are a binding agreement between you and Recall. By downloading, installing, or using the Recall application, or by purchasing a subscription, you agree to these terms, to our Privacy Policy, and to our Refund Policy. If you do not agree, do not use Recall.
When you buy a subscription, your purchase is also subject to the buyer terms of our payment provider, Paddle, described in section 05.
03What Recall is
Recall runs on your computer and follows the shape of your work on screen so it can group what you were doing and hand the thread back when you return. What Recall captures, and the limits we hold ourselves to, are described in full in our Privacy overview and Privacy Policy.
Recall is local-first. Capture and grouping run on your machine, and your work content is not sent to us. We may improve, change, or remove features over time to keep the product useful and secure.
04Early access and beta status
Recall is offered as an early-access product. That means some features are still being built, behavior can change between releases, and you may occasionally hit rough edges. We work hard to keep your data safe, but the software is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis during this period.
We recommend keeping your own copies of anything important. Recall is a companion to your work, not a system of record.
05Payments and our Merchant of Record
Our order process and payments are handled by Paddle.com (“Paddle”), who act as the Merchant of Record and authorized reseller for all purchases of Recall. When you buy a subscription, you are buying through Paddle.
Paddle handles checkout, billing, payment, invoicing, currency conversion, and the calculation and remittance of sales tax and VAT where it applies. Paddle also provides first-line billing support. Your purchase is therefore also governed by Paddle’s Checkout Buyer Terms and Privacy Notice.
For questions about a charge, an invoice, a payment method, or a refund, you can contact Paddle directly through the receipt you receive by email, or write to us at hello@joinrecall.com and we will help.
06Subscriptions, trials, and renewals
Current plans and prices are shown on our pricing page. Recall has two paid plans, billed monthly or annually depending on the plan you choose. There is no free tier.
- Both plans start with a 7-day free trial. You are not charged until the trial ends, and you can cancel during the trial to avoid any payment.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period at the then-current price for your plan, unless you cancel before the renewal date.
- You can cancel at any time. After you cancel, you keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for.
You manage and cancel your subscription through the link in your Paddle receipt, or by writing to us. Refunds are covered by our Refund Policy.
07Your license to use Recall
For as long as your subscription is active, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use Recall for your own work. This license is for you. You may not resell, sublicense, rent, or share your subscription, and you may not copy or redistribute the application.
You agree not to:
- reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code, except where the law allows it;
- use Recall to break the law, infringe someone else’s rights, or harm others;
- interfere with, overload, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems;
- remove or obscure any notices in the software.
08Your data and privacy
Recall is built to keep your work on your machine. How data is collected, used, stored, and deleted, and the third parties we rely on for things like payments, hosting, and email, are described in our Privacy Policy. Please read it. It forms part of these terms.
You can pause capture and delete what Recall holds at any time, from within the application.
09Intellectual property
Recall, including the application, its design, and its name and logo, belongs to us and our licensors. These terms do not transfer any ownership to you beyond the license described above.
The work content that Recall helps you keep is yours. We do not claim ownership of it and we do not use it to train any model.
10Third-party services
Recall relies on a small number of third parties to operate, including Paddle for payments and providers for hosting and email. Optional AI features may run against a model provider using your own key or a local model. Those services have their own terms, and we are not responsible for them. We choose providers that do not receive the content of your work, as described in our Privacy Policy.
11Disclaimers
Recall is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent allowed by law. We do not promise that the software will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for a particular purpose. Nothing in this section limits any rights you have as a consumer that cannot be limited by law.
12Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential loss, or for lost data, lost profits, or lost opportunity arising from your use of Recall. Where we are found liable, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for Recall in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim. This does not exclude liability that cannot be excluded by law, including your mandatory consumer rights.
13Suspension and termination
You can stop using Recall and cancel your subscription at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the product. If we end your access without cause, we will refund any prepaid period that you cannot use.
When your subscription ends, your license ends. You can export or delete your local data before then.
14Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the product and our company evolve, including when we move from an individual operator to a registered company. When we make a material change, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, let you know by email. Continuing to use Recall after a change means you accept the updated terms.
15Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Moldova, where Recall is currently operated, without taking away any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have in your own country of residence. When we form a registered company, the governing law may change to its place of registration, and we will update this page. Disputes about a payment may also be subject to Paddle’s buyer terms.
16Contact
Questions about these terms, your account, or a purchase can be sent to hello@joinrecall.com. For billing and refunds, you can also use the contact details on the Paddle receipt you received by email.
