# Founders and consultants: Go from call to call and keep your place > Source: https://www.joinrecall.com/use-cases/founders > An example day of calls across companies and clients: leave one line before a call, then press ⌥⌘R to see it and the tab you were on, one click away. "My day is one call after another across a few companies, and I come out of each one trying to remember what I was halfway through. Recall shows me where I stopped and the line I left myself, and one click has me back in it before the next call starts." Adam Robinson, CEO @ MoltSets & RB2B & Retention.com Customers, investors, clients: when a call ends, press ⌥⌘R and the Recall Mac app shows your note and what will reopen. One click brings back the tab you were on. Who this page is for: founders, consultants and freelancers who move between customers, investors and clients. ## Example: what comes back Example: Atlas, a made-up company, and Halden Freight, a made-up client. All people and projects are invented. ### Founders - Where you left off: October update: runway paragraph (project: Investor updates) - Your note: "Stopped at churn. Need the number from the model, then the runway paragraph." - Reopens Google Chrome: October update in Google Docs - Reopens Microsoft Excel: The app opens, you pick the file - Reopens Slack: The app opens, you pick the channel - Waiting on you: Leo Park in Slack: send the Q4 hiring plan draft by Friday ### Consultants - Where you left off: Findings memo: section 4 (project: Halden Freight (client)) - Your note: "Stopped at finding 4. Pull the March numbers from their export, then write the summary." - Reopens Google Chrome: The findings memo in Google Docs, the tab you were on - Reopens Microsoft Excel: The app opens, you pick the export - Reopens Slack: The app opens, you pick the client channel - Waiting on you: Dana Reyes in Slack: send the revised scope by Thursday ## The twelve minutes between two calls The customer call ends at 09:48, board prep starts at 10:00, and the investor update you left breaks off at the word churn. The doc survived the call, but the number you meant to check and the point you were making with it did not. - **Your work:** Several projects, companies or clients at once: customers, investors, hiring and client work, with calls in between. - **Where you lose the thread:** A call or a quick customer reply wipes the point you were making. The doc survives, the reasoning does not, and going back to a client after days means rebuilding it in your head. - **What Recall gives you:** Your own note first, the exact list of what reopens, and nothing to create, tag or start. ## A day of back-to-back calls, with Recall in it A made-up Monday at Atlas, where you are the founder and installed Recall a few days ago. - **09:05, One line before the customer call.** You are halfway through the October investor update in Google Docs when the customer call comes up. You press ⌥⌘B and type: “Stopped at churn. Need the number from the model, then the runway paragraph.” Enter, and you join the call. (Leave a note · attaches your line to the thread you are on) - **09:48, Twelve minutes to finish the update.** The call ends and you press ⌥⌘R. The card leads with your line and lists Google Chrome, Microsoft Excel and Slack. Slack can wait, so you untick it under Choose and click Return to where you were. The update comes to the front with Excel open behind it. You pick the model, check churn and finish the paragraph. (Smart Return · shows your note and what reopens, then opens only what stays ticked) - **13:40, Back to the pilot plan you left on Thursday.** In Loops, the Pilot customers list holds the plan under Unfinished, with the question you left open. Resume shows the restore checklist with the plan's Google Docs tab and the pricing sheet ticked, and Restore opens them with the tab you were last on in front. (Loops · work you left days ago, back through one ticked list) - **18:10, Leo's hiring plan is still under Owed.** You open the Today page. Investor updates, Hiring and Q4 planning each have a lane with their time, and the hiring plan Leo asked for in Slack at 11:20 is still under Owed. You press ⌥⌘B, switch to Project, pick Q4 planning and type: “Hiring plan to Leo by Friday.” (Today · shows where the day went and what you still owe) ## What you can do with it: Your place, kept across calls and clients ### Leave one line, then one click back Press ⌥⌘B in the doc, deal or scorecard you are in, then ⌥⌘R after the call: your note comes first, then what will open. The doc returns as the tab you were on. Slack, Excel and Keynote open the app, and you pick the file. Shortcut: ⌥⌘R. ### Keep each client in its own project Choose Move to project, then New project, and each client keeps its own list in Loops, with your notes and what you still owe. Recall sorts work into projects on its own, so two clients can land in one. A name you give stays. ### See what you still owe before you shut the laptop The Owed list on the Today page shows what people asked you for in Slack or Teams and what you said you would do, with how long ago. All in Loops opens the full list, where you mark each one done. How notes work: https://www.joinrecall.com/docs/notes ## Before you install: where it stops, and what it keeps ### Not a meeting recorder or a team tool - **Meetings:** Recall does not record, transcribe or summarize them, and never uses the microphone or camera. Keep your call notes where you take them today. - **Team view:** None. It is one person's tool, with no manager dashboard. - **Client contracts:** No audit has been performed and SOC 2 is planned, so check your contracts before you run software that reads your screen. - **Returns:** A browser brings back the tab you were on, only that tab. Slack, Excel, Keynote and Notion open the app, and you pick the file. Sharper returns are in active development. - **Projects:** Recall groups work itself, so two clients' docs can land in one. Move to project fixes it, and a name you give stays. - **Tasks from your chats:** Slack, Teams, Telegram, WhatsApp and Mail. Email in a browser is not well covered yet. Recall can misread a message, and you tick done yourself. - **Search:** Weekly review is planned next, and asking your past work is in active development. Until then, the Today page's search box finds threads by name, summary or note. - **Phone and Windows:** It sees your Mac only. A mobile companion is being explored, with no commitment. Windows is on the roadmap with no date. ### What is on your screen stays on your Mac Your screen holds term sheets, cap tables, salaries and client files. Recall reads it about every 15 seconds on the Mac itself, keeps a short description and the window title, and discards the image. One exception to discarding the image: when a chat message becomes a task, Recall may keep a small picture of that chat on your Mac, only while the task is open. None of this has a server copy. It never uses the microphone, camera, keystrokes or clipboard. Pause from the menu bar before something sensitive. Usage analytics and crash reports are on by default, one switch turns them off, and they never carry anything from the screen. We do not train on your work, except diagnostics you choose to share. Diagnostics sharing is off by default. When it is on, screenshots redacted on your Mac can be sent to us. ## Questions founders and consultants ask ### Does it record my calls or take meeting notes? No. Recall never uses the microphone or camera and never records a call. It still reads the screen during a call, as at any other time, so a shared slide or the call window's title can end up in its short description. When you return, How you got here can list that you were in a call. Pause from the menu bar before a sensitive call, and keep your call notes where you take them today. ### Can I use it on client work? Yes, if your contract allows software that reads your screen, so check that first. No audit has been performed. Exclusions work per app, so to keep one client's work out, pause Recall from the menu bar while you do it. ### Can my team or board see what I worked on? No. There is no team view and no manager dashboard, and your history has no server copy. It works both ways: you cannot see your team's work either. ### Will it see term sheets, cap tables and salaries on my screen? Yes, while they are on screen. Recall Core describes the screen on your Mac and the image is discarded. The short description and window title stay in a folder on your Mac. Diagnostics sharing is off by default. If you turn it on, screenshots redacted on your Mac can be sent to us, stored in the EU and deleted after 30 days. Redaction blacks out passwords, keys and card numbers, not a cap table or a salary. To keep something out, pause from the menu bar first or exclude the app in Settings. Exclusions work by app, so for a single browser tab, pause. ### What if I forget to leave a note? You still get a way back. With no note, the card shows the question you left open or a short summary of the work, and what will reopen. When you switch away from work you stayed on for at least five minutes, a small Leave a note? pill can appear at the top right. Click it to note the thread you left, or ignore it and it goes away. ### How much setup does it take, and do I change my tools? Setup is five steps, with two macOS permissions and a one-time download of about 1.9 GB. After that there is nothing to create, tag or start, and you keep Notion, Linear and Slack. Expect first threads within the hour, your day on the Today page tonight and Smart Return tomorrow after a break. ### What does it need, and what does it cost? A Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or newer) on macOS 14 or later, Screen Recording and Accessibility permissions, and Recall Core, about 1.9 GB, which setup asks about before downloading. The 30-day free trial needs no card. After that it is $14 / month, or $9 / month billed annually at $108: one plan, one device, with a 7-day money-back guarantee. Windows is on the roadmap with no date. ## Links - All use cases: https://www.joinrecall.com/use-cases - How notes work: https://www.joinrecall.com/docs/notes - Smart Return: https://www.joinrecall.com/smart-return - How Recall works: https://www.joinrecall.com/how-it-works - AI agents: https://www.joinrecall.com/ai-agents-mcp - Docs: https://www.joinrecall.com/docs - Roadmap: https://www.joinrecall.com/roadmap - Pricing: https://www.joinrecall.com/pricing - Trust Center: https://www.joinrecall.com/trust - Site overview for AI agents: https://www.joinrecall.com/llms.txt
